In this case the charge against you would be “Driving a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or other public place without due care and attention”.
If convicted, the sentence for Driving without due care and attention ranges between 3 to 9 penalty points as well as a fine up to £5000.00. 
In more serious cases, the court may disqualify you for any period and/or until a driving test is passed. In this case, the burden of proof is on the prosecution to prove that the way you drive falls below what would be expected of a competent and careful driver.
If you do not accept that the standard of your driving fell below that of a competent and careful driver or there are circumstances which may have given rise to the charge: i.e.: confronted by an emergency when driving, mechanical defect in the car which you did not know about, etc. you may have a defence against the charge.
